RANGERS INTERNATIONAL BEAT NGWA FC 3-1 IN FRIENDLY

Rangers International Football Club on Friday defeated Ngwa FC of Aba 3-1 in a pre-season friendly match in Enugu. Rangers Zaki Godwin scored a brace in the first 45 minutes to ensure the Flying Antelopes took a two-goal lead into the break.

The second half saw both sides introducing new players to freshen their game to end 3-1. Brendan Ogbu scored the third goal for the Antelopes in the 60th minute, before Johnson Okoro reduced the tally for the visiting team in the 75th minute.

Speaking after the match, the Enugu Rangers new Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, however said the match was not a yardstick to determine his players’ abilities. “With time, we will get the team we need and build them into a formidable team before the league resumes,’’ he said.

The Technical Adviser assured that he was working with the club’s other staff to trim the size of the playing staff to a manageable level. “I am not a coach that likes to waste players’ time, because time is everything. “Not all the players will make my team and, for this, we have to be fast and cautious while selecting players for the final phase of screening. “I want those that failed to make my team to get an opportunity elsewhere,’’ Ogunbote said.
