Author of the book, ‘Portrait of Performance: Understanding the Vision Behind Obiano’s Achievements’ Ngozi Emedolibe, unveiled to the media on October 3, 2017, in Awka, has given reasons he wrote about Governor Obiano.
In a chat, Emedolibe, a journalist, explained that the over two hundred-page book whose foreword was written by former Governor of Anambra State Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, was written as part of his civic responsibility as a citizen of Anambra State.
According to him, the concept occurred to him in 2016, following the buzz about the stellar performance of the governor. In his words, “I started by taking notes on the developmental strides of the governor, and understood that there was a pattern in the projects he embarked upon, as a way of delivering good governance to the people of the state.
Continuing, Emedolibe said “I observed a pattern in the projects and initiatives, Obiano always embarked on. I noticed that first and foremost, he prioritized security in the state, and that water-tight security encouraged investments, which created jobs, thereby improving taxation and internally generated revenue. I also noticed that the government was not only paying salaries at due dates to fulfil employer-employee relationship, but to also buoy the local economy, recognizing that government in this clime remains a major contributor to the local economy. These facts are there for everyone to see, and I decided to archive these, so that other states, especially in the south east region could adopt the model for even development of the zone.”
The book which has fifteen chapters, took time to illustrate how the governor has lived up to expectation in various sectors like agriculture, education, infrastructural development, employment generation and of course, stabilizing the polity, highlighting that the administration has run an inclusive government where some members of the opposition, who are talented in service delivery were allowed to bring their experience on board.
