Alumni members of Washington Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha, Class of 1980, have elected their former Senior Prefect, Emmanuel Momah, as the first President of their executive committee. Also elected, were; Mr. Dennis Egbuche (Vice President), Sir Kene Obi (Secretary), Chief Donatus Egbuna (Director of Socials), Cele Ezeanochikwe (Legal Adviser), and Mrs. Cornelia Azike (Treasurer).
Other elected executive members were Princess Ngozi Ezeuzor, (Media and Publicity Secretary), Mrs. Ngozi Okey Amalu, (Provost). Mr. Frank Nelson Nwokolo as well as Mr Patrick Chuks Onyebuchi were voted in as ex-officio members.
The event took place recently at a reunion party held at the Rockview Hotel, Festac Town, Lagos. The former school mates among other things, resolved to “be one another’s keeper,” while vowing to always support the school that raised them.
It was a happy moment for the ex-students, who are now prominent men and women in the society and most of whom had not seen one another since they left school 37 years ago. The alumni we learnt, came from far and near to attend the two-day meeting.
