It was a historic moment for Abians yesterday when President Muhammad Buhari GCFR presented the flag of the ruling party to the governorship candidate of the party, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah OON in the presence of the leadership of the party both national and the State and thousands of Abians who have thronged the Enyimba International Stadium in Abato witness the flag-off of the Presidential Campaign of the President in Abia State.
Barrister Monday Ubani who was at the event, reports that it was clearly a moment of joy and excitement for millions of Abians who are set to liberate themselves from years of locust and under development that have been their unfortunate lot due to inept leadership in the state over the years.
Recall that the Court of Appeal both on Monday and Tuesday validated the candidacy of Dr Uche Ogah and set aside the erroneous judgement of the FCT High Court that purportedly directed INEC to accept the name of Chief Ikechi Emenike as the candidate of the party in the State.
The Appeal Court unanimously set aside the erroneous ruling of the lower court on grounds of lack of jurisdiction and denial of fair hearing. INEC is set to publish the final list of the governorship candidates of the various parties tomorrow the 31st day of January, 2019 in accordance with their timetable.
While recounting the achievements and antecedents of Dr Ogah, the President impressed it upon Abians on their gigantic luck in having such a great young man aspiring to transform their State as a Governor. He prophetically concluded “I present to you, your next Governor“.
