Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has been declared the winner of the March, 9, 2019, Gubernatorial election in Abia State.
Thirty-two candidates from the 43 political parties in Abia State contested for the governorship election.
According to the INEC Returning Officer for the Abia State gubernatorial election, Professor Benjamin Ozumba, Ikpeazu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party received 261,127 votes, to defeat his rivals.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Uchechukwu Ogah came a distant 2nd with 99, 574 votes, while Dr. Alex Otti, the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA got 64,366 votes.
The Returning Officer Professor Benjamin Ozurumba also disclosed that the total number of votes cat were 444, 376. The valid votes were 433,315, while the number of votes rejected votes were 11,061.
