Today Tuesday September 3rd, 13 aspirants will battle for the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) towards the November 16th Governorship election. The winner ultimately take on Governor Yahaya Bello who won the APC ticket last week Thursday. Below is a brief profile of the contestants….
SALIU ATAWODI
A retired Air Marshal, he is also a former Chairman, Presidential Implementation Committee on Maritime Safety and Security (PICOMSS). He is from Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State
GRACE ADEJOH
Grace Adejoh, the only female aspirant under the platform of the PDP is from Ayingba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. She is a former Executive Assistant at the Nigerian High Commission in Singapore.
DINO MELAYE
Dino Melaye is the Senator representing Kogi West in the Senate. Prior to 2015, he represented Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
ABUBAKAR IBRAHIM
Abubakar Ibrahim is the son of a former governor of the state, Ibrahim Idris. His father was first elected governor in 2003 and served for two terms. He is from Idah, the western part of Kogi State.
IDRIS WADA
Idris Wada is the immediate past governor of Kogi State. He is contesting to complete a constitutional 2nd term mandate. The 69-year-old retired pilot was elected Governor of Kogi State in 2011. He comes from Dekina Local government of the eastern part of the state.
MUSA WADA
Musa Wada is a younger brother to Idris Wada, the immediate past governor of the state who is also contesting for the PDP ticket.
VICTOR ADOJI
Former Zenith Bank staff, Victor Alewo Adoji, contested for the Kogi East Senatorial District under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2019 general elections. He is from Ofu Local Government Area.
EMMANUEL OMEBIJE
Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Omebije is a former Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly. He is from Dekina Local Government Area.
MOHAMMED ADAH
Mohammed Adah Shuaibu, popularly known as ‘Tettes’ is a business strategist and entrepreneur. He is from Dekina Local Government Area.
BAYO AVEREHI
Bayo Adobayin Averehi, a kinsman of the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello, is from Okene Local Government Area.
KABIR HARUNA
Kabir Haruna, popularly known as Saraha is the CEO of Saraha Estate Developers based in Abuja. He is from the Igala speaking part of Kogi State.
AMINU SULEIMAN
Aminu Suleiman is a Quantity Surveyor. He is also Igala by tribe.
JOSEPH AMEH
Joseph Ameh Erico, a security expert is the boss of Real Strikers Security Services. He comes from Olamaboro Local Government of the state.
