The management of Gregory University Uturu has concluded arrangements to name the institution’s college of engineering after a prominent industrialist, Prince Arthur Eze. According to a press statement by the acting Registrar, Emmanuel Nebo, the university has fixed Saturday 29th February 2020, to commission the rechristened College of Engineering complex in a modest ceremony that will also witness the formal decoration of Prince Arthur Eze with an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration.
The statement reads in part, “Management hereby invites the public to the christening ceremony of the College of Engineering Complex and subsequent decoration of Prince Arthur Eze with an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration. The physical decoration is sequel to the earlier conferment of the honorary degree on Prince Eze, albeit in his absence, during our 4th Convocation ceremony, which took place on 23rd November 2019.
According to the Registrar, the decision to name the college of engineering complex after the foremost industrialist is informed by Prince Arthur Eze’s pioneering role in the petroleum and aviation sectors in sub Saharan Africa. In his words, “His unparalleled achievements in the petroleum and aviation sectors inspired his choice as a brand name for the college, which by the way has become the best college of engineering in Nigeria, housing departments in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical/Electronics, Computer, Chemical, Petroleum, ultra-modern engineering laboratories, workshops and sophisticated hi-tech equipment, that continue to attract high profile training workshops to our university.
A renowned industrialist, philanthropist and oil magnate of international repute, Prince Arthur Eze is a holder of degrees in Mechanical and Chemical Engineering from the prestigious California State University, Long Beach, California, USA.
