Organisers of Nollywood Film Festival, Germany(NFFG) and Nollywood Golden Awards, (NEGA), Ehizoya Golden Entertainment e.V, has announced the cancellation of the NFFG and NEGA Awards, 2020.

According to the them, the film festival and award which were to hold between September 4th and 5th, 2020 in Frankfurt, Germany, was called off due to the devastating effects of the COVID-19 disease, which has crippled the entertainment industry.

A statement signed by the founder of NFFG/NEGA, Cultural Ambassador Isaac Izoya, said: “Due to the ongoing devastating effects of the unprecedented COVID-19, which has hit hard the entertainment industry among which are events center, cinemas, airports and visa processing for our potential guests, we have no alternative option than to regrettably cancel the well advertised Nollywood events schedule for September 4th – 5th, 2020.”
“We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused you while looking forward for a Covid 19 FREE 2021 Nollywood Film Festival Germany and Nollywood Europe Golden Awards.”

NFFG, founded by Cultural Ambassador, Isaac Izoya is a viable platform designed for Nollywood (Nigerian/African) film makers to showcase their movies to Europeans and Nollywood fans in the Diaspora, while the NEGA awards is the arm of the event designed to honour Nollywood stakeholders, stars, comedians and musicians.

In recent years, the NEGA Awards had also been expanded to recognise the artistic bias of outstanding politicians and business men whose actions have directly or indirectly impacted on the industry, thereby shaping what it has grown to become today.

Last year, 2019, the event which was headlined by Africa’s best music star, 2 Baba, climaxed with a special award to Heidelberg Germany-based philanthropist, Alhaji Bola Adenekan.

Others who picked awards last year included Nollywood Diva Rita Edochie, music icon Idibia Innocent Ujah (2 Baba) in celebration of his 20 years on stage. His manager Efe Omorogbe and Don VS, the present best Nigerian music star in Europe were also honoured at the event.
