Abia State was stood still on Monday, July 27, 2020 when Senate Chief Whip and Senator representing Abia North, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, arrived the state for the first time over two months since he regained his freedom from Prison.
Sen. Kalu arrived to a tumultuous welcome as thousands of his supporters massed at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri, Imo State despite the rain.
The ensemble who gathered as early as 10am, comprised of various groups, party stalwarts and supporters who sang and danced at the airport as they awaited his arrival.
Sen. Kalu left the airport enroute his country home Igbere in Bende Local Government Area, with crowds of people gathered at strategic locations including the Abia-Imo boundary, Okpara Square and Isi Gate in Umuahia, the state capital, with banners, to accord him a rousing welcome.
