All roads lead to Ohafia, Abia State on September 4, 2020, as Publisher, Editor-in-Chief of Pointblanknews.com, Chief Jackson Ude and his siblings bid farewell to their late Patriarch.
Late Elder Ude Jack Ohakwe, who died on March 11, 2020, at the age of 82, will be laid to rest at his country home, Amurie-Nkporo, in Ohafia Local Government of Abia State.
According to the burial plans announced by the family, the wake-keep is slated for September 3, 2020, at the Amurie Primary School Compound while interment is scheduled for September 4, 2020, at the Ude Jack’s Compound, Amankpo, Amurie-Nkporo, in Ohafia Local Government of Abia State.
The late Ude Ohakwe spent most of his lifetime in Gboko, Benue State, where he was a trader. He traded in most of the local markets around the state.
He had moved to Gboko shortly after the civil war after spending time in Apiapum, in Obubra Local Government of Cross River State, where he met and married his wife, late Elder Mrs. Mary Ude Jack who died on August 22, 2016.
A devout Christian of the Assemblies of God Church, Elder Ude Ohakwe spent most of his weekend visiting Gboko Prison, now correctional facility, where he preached to inmates.
He moved from Gboko to Abuja in 1998 at the heat of the crisis between the Igbos and the Tivs.
“My father was a complete gentleman who lived a fulfilled life. He was a dedicated Christian who served the Lord with all his heart. He loved his children and did his best. It is painful he has left us at this time. But we find consolation in the fact that he has gone to be with the Lord,” Chief Jackson Ude said in a statement signed on behalf of the family.
Late Elder Ude Jack Ohakwe is survived by seven children, Grandchildren, brothers, and sisters.
