APC CRISIS CLIMAX IN IMO AS ARARAUME, IBEZIM EMERGE FACTIONAL CANDIDATES FOR IMO NORTH SENATORIAL BYE-ELECTION

The crisis rocking the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, climaxed yesterday as the party produced two candidates for the Imo North Senatorial bye-election.

Senator Ifeanyi Araraume was declared winner of one of the elections on Thursday by the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee for Imo North, Umar Gana Nguma.

According to Nguma, Araraume scored the highest votes of 22,944 votes while Chidinma Uwajumogu came second with 3,757 votes.

Nguma said other candidates scored as follows: Mark Uchendu,1877; Frank Ibezim, 1216; Athan Achonu, 934; Matthew Omegara, 698; Acho Ihim, 212; Bright Nwachukwu, 126; Eze Okoro, 53 and Uchenna Uchewuba, 51 votes.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the parallel panel, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, on Thursday, declared Mr. Frank Ibezim as the winner of the primary election.

Ibezim, he said, polled 13,637 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mathew Omegara who had 2,826 votes.

Ifeanyi Araraume polled 2,708, Athan Achonu, 1,185, Mark Uchendu, 1,438, Chidinma Uwajumogu,1051, Eze Okoro, 54, Bright Nwachukwu, 67, Chikwem Onuoha 1,456 and Acho Ihim, 824 votes.
