Thousands of people yesterday, converged at Zaria, Kaduna State, as the remains of the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, was buried.
Prominent Nigerians who attended the funeral included Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.
Others include the Secretary to State Government, Balarabe Lawal-Abbas, Speaker Yusuf Zailani, among others.
The remains of the late paramount ruler arrived the Palace from Kaduna at about 2.45pm, and were later interred beside the tomb of some of the past Emirs.
Alhaji Idris, the 18th Emir of Zazzau, who passed on after 45 years on the throne, died at the 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna in the early hours of yesterday, after a protracted illness.
