The Nigerian music scene is set to witness a complete change with the unleashing of James Patrick Usani, otherwise known as Jayvoke, a powerful rapper, versatile singer, songwriter and lyricist.
Born on December 18, 1993, in Ugep town in Yakurr L.G.A of Cross River State, Jayvoke grew up in Lagos State and started off as a rapper and songwriter and has shown over the years that there is so much talent embedded inside him.
The second child in a family of five, Jayvoke had both his primary and secondary schools in Lagos before proceeding to Adeleke University, Ede, Osun State where he studied Political Science.
Jayvoke started his music career as a teenager rapping in the streets of Ogudu, Lagos State, and after his graduation and Youth Service, he decided to take up his music fully as a profession.
Jayvoke is a talented and versatile artist whose creativity and word play knows no bounds.
Blessed with a flexible melodious voice ready to fit into any sound and genre of music that comes his way, he has delivered some dope tunes such as ‘MY BABY‘ which was his first official single as a singer.
The song gained massive radio airplay rotation in Lagos and other states in Nigeria. His artistic ability to flow on different beats has positioned him as one of those acts who have refused to be boxed into a particular genre of music.
In 2018, he collaborated with a Netherlands record producer and tour DJ named Ardex to dish out a four track Reggaeton and dancehall E.P Album titled ‘THE GOOD VIBES E.P’.
He has also worked with and featured some international acts such as King Muse from Maryland, Baltimore USA and Darkside from Massachusetts, USA.
He has also featured a 2020 contestant of the ‘American Idol‘ named Black I.C.E, from Boston, USA, on the remix of his hit song ‘MY BABY‘.
Jayvoke is also a member of an international music group called ‘THE COALITION‘ which comprises fellow artistes from the United Kingdom and the United States of America. The group is about to drop their first official single titled ‘You Can’t Stop the Coalition‘ soon.
As a versatile and talented artist with a unique style, Jayvoke has released back to back some mind-blowing songs of different genres ranging from Afro pop, R’n’B, Reggaeton, Dancehall and Soul Tunes/Sounds.
His singles such as ‘Simba’, ‘Fly Away‘ and ‘Original‘ have been enjoying regular airplay in various radio stations across the country.
Though Jayvoke is yet to be signed to any label for now, he is managed by Total Media Koncepts, a budding Artiste Management Company led by Nigerian journalist, Isaac Dachen, and is definitely one talent to look out for in the Nigerian music industry as he’s got a lot to offer.
He is also on the stable of Delex Promotion, a reputable promotions outfit run by veteran shows promoter, Dele Omotayo.
