The #EndSARS protesters have raised over N5 million in less than 24 hours for two physically-challenged youths who joined the protests at the weekend.
The two protesters, Jane Obiene and Charles Nnamani, will benefit from the donation which is still ongoing.
The main beneficiary of the fund, Jane Obiene, made headlines on Saturday, when she joined the protests.
Many protesters had uploaded her image on social media tagging her as the protest heroine for not allowing her physical challenge to deter her from joining the protest.
The story changed when a popular medical doctor on Twitter, Chinonso Egemba, known as Aproko Doctor, started a fundraising for her after identifying the need for a prosthetic leg for her to enable her walk and asking for N500,000 to support her.
In less than two hours of creating the Gofundme account, the target of N500,000 had been reached.
Mr Egemba, thereafter, increased the target to N1. 5 million, saying the lady protester needs to get the best quality prosthetic leg. The N1.5 Million target was also reached within four hours.
As at early Monday morning, reports have it that over N5 million have been received in the fund.
The second amputee protester, Charles Nnamani, is reported to have been among the protesters who rallied from Stadium to Bode Thomas in Surulere.
Meanwhile, one Dr. Bayo Ojelabi, has volunteered to assemble the leg for Jane, free of charge.
Ojelabi who is the founder of Medivice Technologies, is a renowned Prosthetics/Orthotics at the Federal College of Orthopaedic Technology Igbobi, Lagos.
