Former Finance minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has emerged the Director-Genral elect of the World Trade Organisation, WTO.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala was elected with104 votes from 164 member countries to defeat South Korea’s trade minister.
The official announcement of the result is expected to be made by the WTO at 3pm Nigerian time.
With this feat, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala becomes the first African to become the DG of the WTO.
