Living up to its billings, the second edition of the Anambra Media Excellence Awards, AMEA 2020, has held in Awka, Anambra State with all colourful entrapments.
Kicking off at 7pm on November 29, 2020, inside the main auditorium of Marble Arch Hotel, Okpuno-Awka, the event compered by Prince Okwudili Emelumadu was hosted by the Association of Digital Media Core Advocates, and had major stakeholders in the Anambra media space and beyond gathering to celebrate personalities and services that shaped the industry during the year.


The event saw winners in several categories namely: ‘Best Behaved Social Media Influencer/Personality’ Obioma Obidiegwu, ‘Radio Presenter of The Year’ Amarachi Nina Uma-Mba Brila FM Onitsha, ‘Tv Presenter of The Year’ Oluchi Kalu ABS Tv, Awka, ‘News Reporter of The Year’ Alex Divine Ogene FM, ‘Best Radio Programme’ Traffic Mata Wazobia FM, ‘Best TV Programme’ Ogamba ABS TV, ‘Radio Station of The Year’ Wazobia FM Onitsha, ‘Online Media Team of The Year’ i-Witness Media Group, ‘Oustanding Blogger of The Year’ Odogwu Blog, ‘Newspaper of the year’ National Light Newspapers.

Other categories included Media Commendation Awards; ‘Outstanding Media Aide Award’ Kamen Chuks Media and Strategic Communications Aide to Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, ‘Outstanding On Air Personality’ Tochi Godspower Akwaugo Wazobia FM, ‘Outstanding Broadcast Journalist’ Prisca Nwankwo ABS TV & Radio Awka, Daniel Nzube Nwufor Ogene FM, and Onwuteka Adamma Kpakpando FM.

Distinguished Senator Dr. Victor Umeh OFR bagged the Special Recognition Award as Anambra Media Friendly Man of The Year. Also,the highly revered traditional ruler of Umunya in Oyi local government area, Hrh Igwe Chris Onyekwuluje Eze Nya, bagged the Special Recognition Award in consideration to his immense contributions towards the growth and development of the online media industry in Anambra. Others include; Erudite Scholar Dr. Chinedu Mbalisi, Commissioner for Trade and Commerce Hon Sir Uche Okafor Wiper, Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs Hon Lady Ndidi Mezue, Senior Special Assistant to Gov Willie Obiano on Party Affairs Hon. Nnanna Nzewi. Anambra State House of Asssmbly Members; Hon Cater Dike Nnamdi Ph.D, and Hon John Nwokoye (Onowu).


In his speech, the National President of ADMCA, Dr. Harris Chuma Ogene Igbo, thanked guests and reminded them that their presence at the event was a display of patriotism in the quest to instill ethics and social discipline in the Anambra media space, which has become imperative in this age of digital media with its speed and ubiquity. According to Harris Chuma, “I wish to thank everyone who is here today on behalf of ADMCA, Anambra Media Excellence Awards is instituted to recognise and celebrate the media industry practitioners with focus on their hardwork, tenacity and steadfastness over the years, as well as ensuring that the industry is at the fore front and at par with same industries around the world”
AMEA, a brainchild of the ADMCA provides the platform to honour and recognise personalities and programmes, that are positively influencing perceptions in the Anambra media landscape, notably regarded as one of the most vibrant in the country.
