“COSON HELD IT’S AGM, NO ONE WAS LOCKED OUT AND WE DON’T HAVE POLICE PROBLEM”—TOP COSON MEMBER TELLS THEBLADENGR.COM

Just minutes after we published the story that there was tension in the premier music collection society, COSON, a top member of the society has come up with what he calls, the “authentic story”.

According to him, “the Annual General Meeting, AGM held in a peaceful atmosphere and your people-our media department will furnish you with the details”. The election also held and four new directors, Chief Emeka Uche Paul, Engr. Sharon Wilson, Ms Kenny Saint Best and Sir Shina Peters, were elected to the Board on Tuesday.

Continuing, the source who pleaded anonymity said, “we know they(unknown persons) will spread such tales. But we held our meeting and everything went well. Those who told you Coson House was sealed are those who were coming to the event with bad intentions. Thank God they arrived late and due to strict observation of COVID-19 protocols, not everyone could be accommodated inside. Police never sealed off COSON, please.”

Sources had earlier told thebladengr.com that Police sealed off the famous COSON House on Tuesday, preventing musicians from different parts of Nigeria from gaining access.

The source had claimed that the development may not be unconnected with a petition written against the Chairman of COSON, Chief Tony Okoroji by Efe Omoregbe, a member of COSON and consultant to popular musician, Innocent 2Baba Idibia.

Meanwhile, Thebladengr.com has gathered that some of those locked out were ‘sponsored’ by the opposition, who wanted to create confusion during the election and AGM proper.

We were informed that majority of those who didn’t gain entrance to the AGM, were actually former prominent members of the society who had left COSON to join the Efe Omoregbe faction. It was learnt that they had planned to storm the event in large numbers and hijack the society’s administration.

Although many of them reached out to say they were coming in peace, our source said the leadership of COSON did not believe the returnees had really repented, hence the decision to fence them out.
