As the tributes pour in, the Directors Guild of Nigeria, DGN, has described late filmmaker, Chico Ejiro as the “single most important influence ever, in the evolution of Nollywood”.
Writing on his Instagram page on Saturday, DGN President, Olorogun Fred Amata, said “Chico was a Colosus whose enigma traversed all sectors of the movie industry, from cast to crews, to distributors to marketers and exhibitors, he touched the lives of all whom he encountered, giving of himself, his friendship his experience”.
Amata, who admitted that “Chico cannot be captured in one tribute”, said the Directors Guild of Nigeria while mourning, the passing of their member, was also celebrating the life of the enigmatic Chico Ejiro who in his life time, became a rallying point for all of Nollywood.
Filmmaker Chico Ejiro, died two days ago on Christmas day after a protracted illness.

“With Shock Pain in a our hearts tears in our eyes. We mourn the passing of Chico Ejiro.
It is an irreplaceable loss. Chico was a Colosus whose enigma traversed all sectors of the movie industry, from cast to crews, to distributor to marketers and exhibitors, he touched the lives of all whom he encountered, giving of himself, his friendship his experience. He was friend to all seeking only for progress without a care to impress, only to be his professional best.
He can easily be described as the single most important influence on the evolution of Nollywood. He was always hungry for expression.. His mastery of the techniques for “Kpa Kpa Kpa, created a quick return on investment platform that generated huge earnings for the early investors into Nollywood and endeared many to his easy charm and ready smile.
Chico Ejiro supplied all the titles that arguably birthed the Africa Magic Channel.
Chico Ejiro’s Office in Surulere became rallying point for all of Nollywood giving producers actors investor et all secretarial services for free. Up coming writers, actors directors, producers. Super Stars, Sponsors Investors and Executive Producers found gratification in that Chicos Office fondly called west Coast.
Chico can not be captured in one tribute.
The Directors Guild of Nigeria. Mourns the Death of Our Enigmatic Member. Indeed Nollywood and Nigeria Mourns.
But yet We celebrate the life of Chico Ejiro. We must Celebrate such a life.
