KRIS OKOTIE LOSES HIS FRESH DEMOCRATIC PARTY AS SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS DE-REGISTRATION OF 74 PARTIES

Founder and General overseer of the Household of God Church, Pastor Kris Okotie, has finally lost his political parry, the Fresh Democratic Party, FDP.

This follows a ruling, handed down by the Supreme Court on Friday when it upheld an earlier judgment of the Court of Appeal which okayed the deregistration of National Unity Party and 73 others.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 2020 deregistered the political parties over their inability to win any election during the 2019 general elections. But not satisfied with INEC’s action, the NUP had gone to court to upturn the electoral umpire’s verdict.

In the judgment delivered byhe Supreme Court, on Friday, said deregistration of NUP, one of the 74 parties, was in line with the laws and compliance with the extant provisions of the Constitution and Electoral Act.

The same fate befell the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA. Interestingly, the PPA floated by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, had won two governorship elections in Abia State and Imo State(2007) before Kalu abandoned the platform to return to the PDP and eventually the APC.
