Players and fans showed up in crazy and funny outfits to mark a hilarious, weird and entertaining Saturday at the IBB Golf and Country Club as the Ladies Section hosted the Crazy Golf Day Tournament.
With a WILDLIFE theme for the 2021 edition, female and male participants appeared in attires unfamiliar to the sport, but expressing the theme of the day.
Notable in all appearances is that of a participant with goats, and another with chickens with yam tubers to offer to the gods of Golf.
A host of others came dressed in other funny animal patterned wears to mark the wildlife theme of the tournament.
The crazy golf day is a tournament hosted by the IBB Ladies’ Section to unwind and relax while playing golf. It is a day that participants and golf players put away the seriousness in the sports and bring on the playfulness in them.
It was indeed a day for wild life and a crazy one on the course. After the display of all manner of outfits, activities moved on to display of golfing skills.
Many participants on the golf course performed well enough to go home with the rewards and prices.
Ladies L. Asomugha and J. Abdullahi won in the Ladies Division one and two, respectively; Lady A. Abimiku went home with the top position in the Veteran Ladies category.
The Men Divisions one, two and three were won by P. Chidolue, Dayo Alao, Jacob Ihesie, respectively; R.C Nwafor emerged winner in the Veteran Men and T. Menakaya won the Super Veteran Men.
Winner of the best dressed, J Agbonhese, praised his wife without whose help, he wouldn’t have looked crazy enough to win.
He said that he told his wife about the crazy golf day tournament and the wildlife theme. The wife then went into her wardrobe, dug into her old costume box from which she creatively pulled off something that was indeed wild in life.
She dressed him up in the way that he looked at himself and said that if the neighbors saw him, they would think that he has gone ‘kookoo’, but he stepped out of in confidence knowing that the wife could not do wrong with the outfit.
He drove to the course crazy and returned home with the prize for the craziest and funniest outfit of the day.
He thanked the IBB Ladies’ Section for putting up such a fun, entertaining, exciting tournament. The next edition of the crazy golf day tournament is in 2022 and it promises to be even more exciting.
Lady Captain of the IBB Ladies, MaryRose Richard-Obioha, thanked all participants for showing up and making it a memorable day.
