African Record holder in the women’s Long Jump event, Ese Brume, raised the hope that Nigeria could grab a medal when she qualified for the final stage of the event at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics on Sunday.
Brume leapt to a distance of 6.76m, 1cm more than the required mark to seal her place among the contestants that would be competing for medals in the final on Tuesday. Her jump, was the fourth overall best Jump among the finalists.
Brume it will be recalled, broke the 25-year-old 7.12m record of Chioma Ajunwa in the build up to the Olympic Games.
She will be hoping to join compatriots Chioma Ajunwa who won gold at the Atlanta games and Blessing Okagbare who picked silver at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
