SOLUDO IS ANAMBRA GOVERNOR-ELECT

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, hasdeclared former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo as Anambra State Governor-elect.

Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, beat 17 others to win the Saturday November 6 Governorship election.

Returning officer and vice chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku-Obi, announced the result on Wednesday morning.

The APGA candidate secured 112,229 votes to defeat his two major rivals — Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who got 53,807 votes, and Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who secured 43,285 votes.

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, scored 21,261 votes to finish in the 4th position.

Avcording to Prof Banku-Obi, “Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected”.

Soludo was coasting to victory on Sunday when INEC declared the exercise inconclusive and ordered a Supplementary election in Ihiala Local Government area for Tuesday, November 9.

Soludo’s APGA, won in 19 of the 21 LGAs in Anambra State, while the PDP won Ogbaru. Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s YPP also secured victory in Nnewi North.
