All is now set for the much anticipated Aba Fashion Week, 2021, the most iconic fashion event East of the Niger organised annually by the Aba Creatives Collective, copyright owners of the Aba Fashion Week brand.


Aba Fashion Week 2021, as earlier announced, will be held from December 6 – 10, 2021.
Addressing a cross section of journalists, fashion designers, models and other stakeholders in the fashionpreneurship ecosystem, Director-General of the Abia State Marketing and Quality Management Agency and one of the organisers of the premium fashion extravaganza, Mr. Sam Hart, noted that the 2021 edition of the Aba Fashion Week, with the theme: Fashion Meets Entrepreneurship, will be louder and more exciting than the acclaimed 2020 edition.
Mr. Hart noted that the organisers were leaving no stone unturned in their coordinated determination to ensure that the fortunes of Creatives in Aba and Abia State improves sustainably and that the Aba Fashion Week was one of such vehicles.
He assured that all hands were on deck and that all relevant stakeholders were working in tandem to ensure a memorable event.
Nigerian Betting industry leader, Betking for the second year running, are Official Sponsors of the event while other major sponsors include Abia State Government, Guinness Nigeria Plc and Zenith Bank Plc.
Giving insight into the series of activities earmarked for the event, the Creative Director of Toskyme House of Fashion and a Partner at Aba Creatives Collective, Mr. Ugomdi Ogbonna announced that Monday, December 6, 2021 was day of Arrivals and setting up of Exhibition stands. Tuesday, December 7 would be the beginning of the #MadeInAbia Exhibition where premium fashion pieces from Aba will sell at half the price.
Mr. Ogbonna stated that Wednesday, December 8, 2021 will be the date for the Aba Fashion Week Street Fashion where fashionistas from all over would come out in their statement fashion pieces and display at Brass Junction, Aba. On Thursday, December 9, 2021, there would be a Masterclass where successful Fashionpreneurs will share their success principles with Aba Fashion creatives.
Friday, December 10, 2021 would be the grand finale featuring a Blue Carpet at 6pm and Runway extravaganza at 7pm with A-List guest artistes and other entertainment icons featuring.
Mr. Ogbonna disclosed that 50 Fashion Designers and over 100 Models were expected to participate in this year’s edition while over 20,000 guests will participate in all the activities.
Giving further insight into the plans for this year’s show, Mr. Igara Samuel, one of the Partners of the organising coalition, disclosed that the stage was now set for the biggest fashion event East of the Niger. He noted that the organisers have engaged the services of industry leaders in audiovisual multimedia event packaging for premium delivery while reputable vendors have been contracted to handle all aspects of the event.
Speaking on the readiness of their facility to host the event, the Chairman of Luxury City Entertainment Villa, Dr. Cosmos Ndukwe, noted that the facility has put everything in place to cater for the over 100 models that will be camped at the hotel for weeks and the Sugarland pavilion that will host the grand Finale.
Also speaking, Mr. Abasifreke Ekong, Creative Director of Abas Loco Designs noted that his participation at the Aba Fashion Week 2020 opened his business to so many new opportunities that he was still benefiting from and he was fully ready to unveil new designs this year. Miss Nina Kalu of Nyna Jaykay Threadworks noted that she was inspired to acquire further training after the lessons she picked from the Masterclass at Aba Fashion Week 2020 and averred that she was now more confident in her creative abilities and was looking forward to Aba Fashion Week 2021.
One of the models, Zenita Zion, described Aba Fashion Week 2020 as the best thing to have happened to the modelling industry in Abia State noting that most of the models that participated in AFW 2020 were sought out to participate in events nationwide. She thanked the organisers of the event for the opportunity and expressed the confidence that they would do even better this year.
Mr. Chinyere Akataobi, one of the organisers, expressed readiness of the organisers to deliver a showpiece event.
