Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, has been installed as the new Catholic Bishop of Nnewi diocese.
The ceremony held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral, Nnewi waspresided over by Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi, the representative of the Pope in Nigeria.
At the event, the outgoing Bishop Most Rev. Hillary Paul Odili Okeke said he quit the bishopric on health ground and in other to ensure smooth administration of the Diocese.
In his remarks, the new Bishop, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye thanked the Diocese for their massive supports for the outgoing Bishop and urged them to extend the same support to himself.
Prominent individuals who thronged Nnewi in for the event include, Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, governor-elect, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, former governor Peter Obi, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and wife, Chief Mrs. Uche Ubah, Senator Uche Ekwunife, His royal majesty, Igwe Dr. Kenneth Orizu and many others.
