WORLD CUP LOSS: SUPER EAGLES CAPTAIN, TROOST-EKONG BEGS NIGERIANS

Captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, William Troost-Ekong has begged Nigerians for forgiveness on behalf of his teammates after missing the World Cup.

The Super Eagles captain explained that the result of the second leg against Ghana was not what they wanted Thomas Partey’s goal gave the Black Stars a draw in Abuja which gave the West African nation the ticket.

The Black Stars of Ghana qualified for the World Cup on away goal rules joining Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon and Morocco as the five African nations that will go to Qatar.

Troost-Ekong writing on his official Instagram page, explained that it is painful that Nigeria won’t be going to Qatar for World Cup.

 ”To all Nigerians, on behalf of the team, we want to apologise for not securing the World Cup ticket. ”Despite giving it everything possible, it wasn’t meant to be. ”First and foremost, as Nigerians, we share your emotions and we take our responsibility as a group. ”We sincerely thank the Nigerian fans for their overwhelming support, the NFF President who did everything possible to make the qualification happen and of course the Minister. ”A bitter pill to swallow but believe me we will be back better and stronger.”
