Former Pro-chancellor of Governing Board Council of Federal University of Calabar, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, has declared her intention to run for the Abia Central senatorial seat in 2023.
Nwaogu, represented Osisioma Ngwa, Ugwunagbo and Obingwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007.
In 2007, she was elected as the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District. In 2011 she was re-elected for a second tenure in office.
While declaring her intention last Thursday, Senator Nwaogu said that having navigated through the rudiments of the parliament, she stands a better chance than anyone else to attract the much desired Democracy dividends to the people of Abia Central.
She also said that her emergence for the upcoming general election in 2023 will emancipate, liberate, restore and resuscitate Abia Central senatorial district form the shackles of misrepresentation and representative redundancy.

“Protocols.
It is with humility and due respect that I invited you all today on this epoch making event after consulting with my God, with due notifying to my family, friends and well wishers to announce to you of my intention to contest for Senate ABIA CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICT.
Having seen the people aspiring for the same position, across party line. I stand here in humility to say that; Senator Nkechi Nwaogu is right and the best person needed to Represent Abia Central.
As a ranking Senator, and having navigated through the rudiments of the parliament, i stand a better chance than anyone else to attract the much desired democracy dividends to ndi Abia Central.
We should put into consideration that the 90 percent of the current National Assembly leaders are all old timers in the legislature and it is said, the older the better in terms of legislative know how.
A vote for Senator Nkechi Nwaogu is a vote for emancipation, liberation, restoration and resuscitation of Abia Central from the shackles of misrepresentation and legislative redundancy.
Abia Central must compete favourably with other Senatorial Districts in Abia state and Nigeria at large, and only Senator Nkechi Nwaogu PhD CON that has the wherewithal and the magic wand to give that effective Representation.

To the Youths of Abia Central Senatorial District, I have done it before and I will still do it again, as my track records in previous positions I handled was beneficial to the youths.
You have ever believed in me, and if I am elected with your support, i am going to replicate what I am known for and the youths of Abia Central Senatorial District must be adequately and sufficiently empowered and employed to face the realities on ground.
To the women, there is no nation without women. I am going back to the Senate to champion a course for gender equality and make sure that the gender equality bill that was rejected by the Senate is revisited.
In the continuation of what I have been doing before, there is going to be a massive women empowerment and skills acquisition programs for the Women.
To the men of Abia Central, we are going to run a robust representation and organization of regular town hall meeting to know the various challenges our people are facing.
In the areas of provision of basic infrastructure and socal amenities, we are going to partner with the relevant agencies like Anambra River Basin, NDDC and other federal parastals to bring about the much desired democracy dividends.
