OYEBANJI HAS NO POWER TO SUMMON EKITI L.G. CHAIRMEN-GROUP

Against the backdrop of a recent meeting held by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) with  Chairmen of the local governments in the State, a group, Ekiti Rebirth Organisation has taken a swipe at the candidate for his indiscretion of bestowing upon himself the powers of a sitting governor.

In a statement yesterday by the president of the group, Comrade Olayiwola Aladejare, the group noted that the APC is already revealing its game plan of ensuring that there will not be a level playing field in the forthcoming election.

“How would a responsible government allow its candidate and even the Director General of its campaign organisation to call the Local Government chairmen in our State together to fashion out how to rig the election” he asked.

Aladejare noted that there are feelers in different quarters that the APC has concluded arrangements to mobilize thugs from these Local government areas, adding that the meeting held with the Chairmen a few days ago has confirmed that “sinister motive”

“Desperation is the order of the day now. A local government is peopled by non partisan folks. There are those who are not even  members of any political party. How then, do you foist your choice on them? Why should you use the paraphernalia of office to swing votes to your advantage? “

The group warned of the imminent danger in letting the APC continue with their clandestine activities” to the detriment of other Stakeholders in the state?

” We will not fold our arms and watch the party brazenly turn the State into a banana republic because of the Governorship election.

The State has different political parties jostling to rule it, hence, the Federal Government and INEC must ensure security and there must be a level playing field” he said.
