Nigeria will open play against France at the 2022 FIFA U20 Women World Cup group stage in Costa Rica.
The Nigeria-France duel was confirmed after the draws at the Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica in San José on Thursday night.
Nigeria is in Group C alongside France, Canada and Korea while West African neighbour Ghana was pitted against Japan, the Netherlands and the USA.
The teams were seeded based on their performances in the 5 previous U-20 Women’s World Cups, five bonus points was added to each of the confederation’s current champions that won the respective qualifying tournament (for this cycle).
The host, Costa Rica was automatically seeded and assigned to position A1. Teams of the same confederation could not meet in the group stage.
The tournament will take place from August 10- 28 2022 in two Costa Rican cities.
