MAVERICK POLITICIAN ARTHUR NZERIBE BURIED

Maverick politician, Senator Francis Arthur Nzeribe who died few weeks ago in the United Kingdom,  has been buried in his home town of Oguta in Imo State.

His remains arrived in the country from London early Saturday morning and was conveyed straight to  a funeral service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Oguta, Imo State, after which he was buried at his ‘Haven of Peace’ homestead.

The ceremony was attended by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and other dignitaries including former governors of the state, Emeka Ihedioha and Ikedi Ohakim.

The man who handed Nzeribe his retirement from the Senate, Sen. Osita Izunaso, and former Anambra guber candidate, George Muoghalu, elder statesman Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and Senate minority leader, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, were also at the event.

The late Nzeribe had represented Orlu Senatorial District from October to December, 1993 in the Second Republic under the defunct party, the Nigeria Peoples Party.

He later represented Imo West District from 1999 to 2007 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Nzeribe died after a prolonged illness at the age of 83.
