To Christians all over the world, it is axiomatic that “whom God has blessed, no man can curse”. Again, adherents of the Christian faith believe that “God does not look at one’s height or social status, but at the heart”.
When God wanted to appoint king to take over from King Saul of Israel, who had lost favour in His sight because of the sin of disobedience, he opted for the young lad called David in the house of Jesse. David’s elder brothers were filed out to be chosen from because of their status and heights , but God told Samuel to look for the humble lad pasturing his father’s flocks called David. When David was eventually brought, Samuel bowed before him , and exclaimed, “this is the chosen king of Israel” to the bewilderment of his father and brothers.
The emergence of Engr Akarachi Amadi from Eziama, Ikeduru local government area of Imo State, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru federal constituency seat in the National Assembly has semeiotic semblance with the biblical account I just narrated above. His election was a true reflection of the People’s wish.
Having beaten his only opponent, Uche Ogbuagu, whom many pundits classify as “a serial defector” by a whooping 106 votes to 8 votes for Ogbuagu, it is no longer controvertible that Akarachi Amadi is the “beautiful bride of Ikeduru nay Mbaike as a whole”. If anything, his victory reinforces the age long axiom that “the wisdom of Solomon has nothing to do with the age of Methuselah “, and that “the hood does not make the monk”.
Having been overwhelmingly endorsed by his own people of Ikeduru as “a prophet recognized at home”, the story is also the same in Mbaitoli. In fact, Akarachi has become a movement for the youth, women, fathers, mothers, and elders in Mbaike. His acceptance in Mbaike cuts across political party affiliations or interests . He is a unity candidate.
As a young man, he has shown capacity, tenacity and astounding leadership idiosyncrasies. Very jovial, humble and accommodating, Akarachi Amadi remains the ideal man for Mbaike’s sojourn to the Green chambers.
Winning the APC ticket was just a mere ceremonial match because everyone in Mbaike knew it could not have been otherwise considering Akarachi’s pedigree . To Mbaike people therefore , “the time is now” for the youths epitomized in Akarachi to take their destiny in their hands.
In other words, Mbaike people have resolved to use Akarachi for Mbaike. In turn, Akarachi,in response to the deafening clamour for him to lead Mbaike to the Green chambers in 2023, has told his people of Mbaike, “here I am,send me (Isaiah 6:8).
Since the people of Mbaike have said “yes” to Akarachi Amadi’s candidature , who then can say “no?” Nobody, of course, for “the voice of the people is the voice of God”.
