National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has won the presidential primaries of the party.
After a suspense filled night, Tinubu amassed a total of 1050 votes, to beat his closest rivals, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo who came second and third respectively.
Earlier on Wednesday morning, seven of the aspirants including Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Senator Godswill Akpabio, had stepped down for the former Lagos State governor, urging their supporters and delegates, to support him.
The event left 14 aspirants, Tinubu, Yemi Osinbajo, Rotimi Amaechi, David Umahi, Ben Ayade, Rochas Okorocha, Tunde Bakare, Ahned Lawan, Emeka Nwajiuba, Yahaya Bello, Ogbonnaya Onu, Ahmed Yerima and Tien Jack Rich, to battle for the delegate votes.
