JOKE SILVA, BIMBO OLOYEDE …OTHERS HEADLINE WOMEN IN MEDIA CONFERENCE AND AWARDS

The nation’s top female media practitioners will converge in Lagos on Thursday 1st of September 2022, at the prestigious Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference Center, Alausa Ikeja; for the 2022 Women in Media Conference and Awards.

WIM Founder and Clout Media’s CEO, Daisy Madu – Chikwendu in a statement, said the event is a great opportunity for leading women in Media to enlighten and impact experiences on the younger and upcoming women in the media towards accomplishing greatness.

According to her, the speakers will discuss and correct some prejudices, and even look at issues which are aberrations or normal in the society and which hamper women towards achieving greatness in their endeavours.

“The event, which is staging a spectacular post Covid-19 comeback and themed “WHY NOT A WOMAN?” will seek to close the gap between the women in media and the hurdle of perception” Mrs. Chikwendu said

Meanwhile, the 2022 edition has lined up an array of professionals and veterans to x-ray germane issues. These exceptional women include Madam Joke Silva who will serve as Honorary President while Madam Bimbo Oloyede will  deliver the keynote address. Agatha Amata, Toun Okewale Sonaya, Ada Adeheke, Kenny St. Brown, Juliet Bumah and a host of others will serve as panelists.

Outstanding men in the media are also playing key roles. Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo; the Registrar/ CEO Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria(APCON) is Chief Host while Dr. Victor Okhai, Pretty Okafor, Madu C Chikwendu and a host of others serve as Panelists.

In addition, WIM will celebrate, acknowledge, promote and encourage women who work in mass communication with special awards.

Past awardees include Mrs. Joke Jacobs, Mrs. Ruth Benamesia-Opia, Ms Comfort Obi, late Mrs. Amaka Igwe, Mrs. Betty Irabor, Mrs. Agatha Amata, Chief (Mrs.) Rita Lori Ogbebor, Mrs. Funke Egbemode, Mrs. Helen Ovbageli among several others. WIM has also acknowledged the men that support women in media like Mr. Bisi Olatilo, Mr. Ben Bruce and a host of others.

An exciting new dimension has also been added to this year’s event. This will involve women in music and the screening of creative works by women in media.
