Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, DIG Udom Ekpoudom, has described the order of the Federal High Court asking the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to publish the name of former Niger Delta Affairs minister, Sen. Godswill Akpabio as the candidate of the party for the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial district, as a familiar gimmick by Senator Akpabio, to deceive the people.
Ekpoudom argued in his statement, that it is public knowledge that the matter was already before a Federal High Court of which judgement has been fixed for Tuesday, September 21, 2022.
The statement signed by Rt Hon Uwem Udoma, DG, Ekpoudom Senatorial Campaign Organisation, also said that DIG Ekpoudom, was NEVER joined in the suit in question by Senator Akpabio.
In the press statement tagged, “Federal High Court judgement on 2023 APC Candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District,” the campaign organisation further said “DIG Ekpoudom remains resolute and determined to protect the mandate lawfully given to him by the people to fly the party’s flag as it’s candidate for the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial seat come 2023”.

“Federal High Court judgement on 2023 APC Candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District
The attention of DIG Udom Ekpoudom Senatorial Campaign Organisation has been drawn to an Order by a Federal High Court, Abuja Division on Senator Godswill Akpabio’s candidature for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.
We wish to state that this is nothing but a familiar gimmick by Senator Akpabio because it is public knowledge that the matter was already before a Federal High Court of which judgement has been fixed for Tuesday, September 21, 2022.
As strange as it may sound, we were NEVER joined in the suit in question by Senator Akpabio. That notwithstanding, we call on all our supporters in the Senatorial District to remain calm as our team of lawyers are studying the situation and will respond at the appropriate time in line with the extant provisions of the both the 1999 Constitution as amended and the 2022 Electoral Act as amended.
DIG Ekpoudom remains resolute and determined to protect the mandate lawfully given to him by the people to fly the party’s flag as it’s candidate for the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial seat come 2023 and no amount of intimidation or boast of ability to compromise both the party and the judiciary by Senator Godswill Akpabio will stop the manifestation of the people’s power over money power and impunity.
We call on all our teaming supporters not to be distracted but to know that as Thomas Jefferson observed, “The will of the people is more powerful than a standing army” and that the Akwa Ibom North West APC Senatorial ticket CANNOT and will NEVER be for sale to the highest bidder.
