Singer, actor, and screen writer Abigail Oridupa has dropped her second single, an Afrobeats song titled YanmuYanmu. Her first Afropop single titled Eldorado was released in January 2020. Eldorado, which enjoyed a lot of airplay when it was released is a romantic song about fulfilment and commitment.
But YanmuYanmu which Abigail dropped this Thursday is a social consciousness song with reflective lyrics, horn sequence and exciting chorus delivered to ignite hope in the minds of the people. The song, produced by Opatamedu also addresses the effect of bad governance in Nigeria.
Speaking shortly after she dropped the song, Abigail noted that Nigeria and indeed the world is so heated up now that what is needed is songs, books and films that will ignite hope in the minds of the people. In her words: “All along, my vision has been to sing songs and to tell stories that will impact lives positively. There is so much strife and discontentment with the system and anger in the land owning to bad governance. So rather than add to people’s problems by telling negative stories, I think it is best to ignite hope in the minds of the people hence this song which I believe will ignite the needed hope”, she said.
An advocate of peace and nature lover, Abigail has written so many songs across different genres such as chants, pop, R&B, gospel and rap. She has also earned scripts and original song credits for several Nollywood movies.
