Tanzania and Ghana won big at the 18th AMAA awards which held in Lagos on Sunday.
Tanzania graced the podium four times as it’s entry, “Tug of War”, won the ‘Ousmane Sembene Award for Best Film in an African Language’, ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’, ‘Award for Best Film’ and ‘Best Achievement in Soundtrack’.
Ghanaian entry, “Borga” won three statuettes for ‘Achievement in Screenplay’, ‘Best Actor in a Supporting Role’ and ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’.
One of the numerous Nigerian entries, “Man of God”,came to the country’s rescue, picking two awards including, the “National Film & Video Censors Board (NFVCB) Award for Best Nigerian Film” and the “Award for Best Achievement in Costume Design”
Ogo Okpue’s “A Song from The Dark” lived up to it’s pre-event hype as it won the “Award for First Feature by a Director”, on the night.
