“DAY OUR PRAYERS WERE NOT ANSWERED”—BROTHER OPENS UP ON HOW AMAA FOUNDER, PEACE ANYIAM OSIGWE DIED

Contrary to all the rumours and media reports, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe’s elder brother, George Anyiam-Osigwe, has revealed how his younger sister died.

Speaking when a delegation of the Association of Movie Producers, AMP, led by Queen Blessing Ebigieson, the association’s Vice President, paid the deceased family a condolence visit, Anyiam-Osigwe revealed that Peace was with him at his house in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos till midnight on Saturday, January 7.

Said he, “We took tea together. Then she left around midnight after chatting with me for a long time. She had no problem at all. But around 3am, early Sunday, she called me and said she wasn’t feeling well and needed to go to hospital quickly”.

“So, I drove to her house, picked her and drove quickly to the hospital, St. Nicholas. That’s it oo”, he quipped.

Continuing, he said the doctors took over from there. They did a few things as they tried to stabilise her but nothing to suggest she would die. This is because she was still talking. She even asked me to call my younger brother, her immediate senior. And he came. We all prayed together and even put our phone on speakers for those at home to join us. “She was part of all. Sadly , we practically watched our sister as she gradually transitioned from life to death. Ah it is painful. I can’t break down now. No, I can’t because there is a lot to do,” he said.

Going spiritual, he went on, “We know that God gives and He alone takes. We prayed fervently to God to spare her life”, he said emotionally.

Bringing out a rosary, he continued, “See my brother, our grandmother gave me this rosary. It’s a permanent companion. We always , always pray. And this time we prayed hard but God didn’t answer”

Reminded that God always answered prayers, Anyiam-Osigwe agreed but reaffirmed that their prayer wasn’t answered, “and that is why my lovely sister, a hard worker and philanthropist, died,” he said in an emotion-laden voice.

Holding back his tears, he revealed that Peace had bought her ticket and was to travel to UK and US on Monday, February 9. “But here we are”, he lamented with face up as if searching for answers.
