D-DAY! ATIKU, TINUBU, OBI, KWAKWANSO BATTLE FOR BUHARI’S JOB

The battle for who replaces Muhammadu Buhari as president hots up today as Nigerians go to the polls to elect a new president.

Although there are 18 candidates in the race, four stand out as the leading contenders. The four leading presidential candidates are Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP);  Mr. Peter Obi of Labour Party, and Dr. Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP).

The four will battle for  87,209,007 voters out of the 93,469,008 registered voters who have collected their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Apart from winning the simple majority votes cast, only the candidate with 25% wins in 25 states including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja, will be returned elected.

Apart from the presidential race, today is also d-day for the National Assembly as candidates battle in the states for the 109 Senate seats and the 360 House of Representatives seats.
