The Security Watch Africa Initiatives (SWAI) has welcomed the effective security roles played by the security agencies in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly Elections across Nigeria.
In a press statement signed by Mr. Patrick Agbambu, the Chief Executive of SWAI, the body said it specifically commend President Muhammadu Buhari for his non-interference in the electoral process and his unwavering supports for the security agencies to do their jobs effectively.
“Despite ugly situations in some States, the Nigeria Police Force, the Security Agencies and with the backups provided by the Armed Forces of Nigeria, were able to rise up to the task and managed the situations professionally by securing the critical areas identified, from the high risk to the low risk areas, in the country as contained in the Security Threats Report for 2023 General Elections released by SWAI prior to the elections.
“Security Watch Africa Initiatives also commends Nigerians for their peaceful conducts during the elections, which have been adjudged credible.
“As the State Governorship and House of Assembly Elections fixed for Saturday 11th March, 2023 is fast approaching, SWAI also urges the Security Agencies not to rest on their oars, but improve and redouble their efforts to provide the needed security for the elections”.
SWAI further advised all aggrieved politicians in the just concluded elections to follow the path of peace by approaching the courts for possible remedy.
The body also urged all politicians and their supporters to embrace peaceful conducts in the remaining elections scheduled for 11th March, 2023.
