U-17 AFCON: GOLDEN EAGLETS LOSE 0-1 TO MOROCCO IN 2ND GROUP MATCH

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets on Wednesday, lost 0-1 to the Atlas Cubs of Morocco at the ongoing African U-17 Cup of Nations holding in Algeria.

Morocco’s Abdel Hamid Maali had scored in the first half at the Mohamed Hamloui Stadium in Constantine, but all efforts by the Eaglets at cancelling the goal yielded no fruits.

Maali’s goal came after only 75 seconds on the clock, a lead that the Atlas Cubs held on to the final whistle to move to six points on top of Group B.

The Golden Eaglets will now battle for the FIFA U-17 World Cup qualification when they meet South Africa in their last group match on Saturday. Morocco leads the group with six points while Nigeria and South Africa are second and third with three points each.
