Come May 20, 2023, Ogbunike town will witness the first ever Conference on Culture, Arts and Tourism.
Tagged, “Ebube Ogbunike Conference”, it is the indigenous cultural tourism conference to be held by indigenes of Ogbunike.
According to the Chief Host and Coordinator, TMOG, Dr. Chuma-Odili Harris Udokamma, FCMsp (Ogene Ogbunike), the conference will be held at the Ogbunike town hall, and will be a get together for culture enthusiasts, traditionalists, the religious, clergy, members of traditional Council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike, members of Traditional Council of Nze/Ozo Ogbunike, able bodied youths, young men and women who are desirous to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ogbunike’s cultural tourism.
TEAM MAKE OGBUNIKE GREAT (TMOG) notes that since culture is seen as a living thing, it is possible for it to die. A culture dies when it is no longer practiced. If the culture of a people dies, they technically cease to exist, because it is culture that gives them identity.
To avoid cultural extinction (death of culture), ndi Ogbunike in general should come to a round table to discuss sure-ways of promoting their culture, commerce and tourism.
The Ebube Ogbunike Conference is designed to foster bonding among ndi Ogbunike and their traditional institution, promote cultural tourism and rural development.
TMOG is calling on ndi Ogbunike to join the sensitization and awareness campaign targeted at restoring the dwindling fortunes of Ogbunike’s cultural heritage.
