Co-Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation(TEF), Dr. Awele Elumelu, is among eminent Nigerians listed to receive the 2023 national honour awards.
Dr. Awele Elumelu is to receive the prestigious Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic, OFR.
The honours list also has Nigeria’s incoming First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu who bagged the prominent Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON award.
According to a statement by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, out-going President Muhammadu Buhari approved the presentation of the special national awards on deserving personalities.
Other prominent Nigerians who will receive the awards include former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku who will be invested with the second highest honour in the land, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON, filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan who was honoured with the Officer of the Order of the Niger, OON and Dr. Owen Omogiafo, President of the Transcorp Group, who also bagged the Officer of the Order of the Niger, OON, award, among other personalities.
