The Lionesses withstood a tough Nigeria challenge to win their round of 16 match in Brisbane to emerge victorious.
The match ended 4-2 on penalties after both teams were unable to score in 120 minutes of play.
The highly competitive match saw England’s Lauren James sent off in the 87th minute after a malicious challenge on Super Falcon’s Michelle Alozie.
England will play for a Semi Finals ticket on Saturday.
