Since Monday, November 30, 2023, music artist, Mercy Isiyop, (Descuchiel), has become the biggest topic on the social media, howbeit for the wrong reason.
The Rapper, Interior Designer, Actress and Entertainer, blew a lifetime opportunity in Owerri, the Imo State capital, when she fumbled during her rendition of the National Anthem at the ongoing Conference and retreat for police officers organised by the office of the acting Inspector General, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
Clad in Police uniform, the singer could not render the National Anthem to the consternation of the big wigs who thronged the Landmark Event Center, venue of the event.
TheBladengr.com gathered from highly placed sources, that Descuchiel froze on stage on seeing the intimidating power brokers which included the chief of INTERPOL who flew in from the UAE for the event, Governor Hope Uzodimma, the host, the Ag. Inspector General of Police including all the DIGs, AIGs and Police Commissioners from all commands in the country.
While many agree that even super stars all over the world have at one time or the other fallen to such stage fright, they believe it was the biggest opportunity for any rising star to grab on the way to stardom. According to them, the effect of acting as a Policeman in a room filled with the highest echelon of the Police, should have been the push the Calabar-born entertainer needed to showcase her skills and maybe go ahead to become a brand Ambassador for the force.
We gathered from a source in Owerri, that Descuchiel has not left her hotel room since Monday afternoon after weeping profusely at the reception and that some people are begging the organisers to get experts to see her in order to save her mental health following the massive bashing she has received on the social media.
