The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity), Zuma Deck a non-governmental and a social Advocacy organization, in collaboration with Greenstrides Development Initiative, GDI, on Saturday 28th October, 2023, organised a free medical mission at Paze community in Byhazin area of Bwari Area Council in FCT, Abuja.
The event which was in pursuance of one of the core mandates of the Pyrates Confraternity for humanistic ideals, witnessed screening for various health conditions like diabetes, hypertension, malaria and different eye problems.
Free laboratory investigations were also conducted while free consultations and medications were dispensed for various common ailments noted in the community. Similarly, free eye consultations and corrective lenses were also given out.
In all, over 500 members of the community benefitted from the medical mission tagged “The Village Dr,” some of whom expressed their gratitude to the Association.
Speaking at the event, the Capoon of Zuma deck of NAS, Mr. Nnamdi Eze, reiterated the need to supplement the effort of the government in bridging the obvious gaps in health care coverage.
Also speaking, the second mate of Zuma deck and program director, Dr Uju Patrick C, said the choice of the location was premised on the absence of any functional health post in the entire community comprising of three villages.
He also stated that another aim of the mission is to create awareness and to draw the attention of the government and other policy makers to the plight of the community.
