Senator Hope Uzodimma, has been re-elected as governor of Imo State following his victory in all 27 local government areas of Imo State in Saturday’s governorship election.
Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress, APC, polled 540,308 votes, followed by of the Senator Samuel Anyanwu of the Peopkes Democratic Party, PDP who scored 71,503 votes. Senator Athan Achonu of the Labour Party, LP garnered 64,081 votes to place third.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, represented by the State Returning Officer for the election, Prof Abayomi Fasina, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, declared Uzodimma elected, having satisfied alk requirements imposed by the electoral law.
The collation of results started around 2 a.m. on Sunday in Owerri, the state capital.
Eighteen parties fielded candidates in the election.
