Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Douye Diri, has been re-elected as Bayelsa State Governor.
Douye Diri received 175,196 votes to beat his closest rival, Chief Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who got 10,108 votes.
According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Diri won in six of the eight local government areas, leaving only two to APC’s, Timipre Sylva.
Diri won in Southern Ijaw, Yenegoa, Kolokuma/Okpokuma, Ogbia, Sagbama and Ekeremor local government areas, while Sylva won in Brass and Nembe local government areas.
