Organisers of the Nigeria Pitch Awards, have unveiled a grand plan for the 10th edition of the event.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Lenders Consult Ltd, (formerly Matchmakers Consult), Dr. Shina Philips, unveiled the programme of events at a press conference held in Lagos on Wednesday.
According to Dr. Philips, as part of the event, a symposium to address the future of football in Nigeria, which will bring the football community together, will be held. Besides this, several entertainment programmes are also in the plan to make the ceremony a grand one.
Dr. Philips who thanked the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, Sports Journalists and SIAO Partners for their partnership in the last 10 years, said the Nigeria Pitch Awards has emerged as the best awards ceremony in the land.
He noted that the popularity of the awards has been built on integrity, credibility and transparency. To achieve this feat Dr. Philips said, “We completely removed ourselves as organisers from the award decision process, giving organisers zero vote in the entire voting process. The decisions were left entirely to sport editors and journalists across the 36 and the FCT, Abuja. It is to your credit that in the last 10 years, after 480 nominations and 160 winners, there has been no controversial award decision.”
Dr. Philips announced that events for the 10th edition of the Nigeria Pitch Awards, will commence with voting opening on December 4, 2023 and ending on 12th January 2024.
The Nigeria Pitch Awards which made its debut in 2012 has over the years been used to reward several Nigerian players at home and in the Diaspora for their sterling performances
The 10th edition of the awards ceremony is billed for March, 2024 during the International match window.
