Its fireworks today Saturday, January 27 as the 2023 African Cup of Nations, AFCON tournament enters the knockout stage in Cote D’Ivoire.
The first match will see Angola squaring up against Namibia at the Stade de la Paix, in Bouake. Angola topped Group D, in the first round, winning two matches and drawing one. Namibia on the other hand, came third in Group E. They earned the “giant killer” tag with their 1-0 victory over Tunisia on January 16.
Two super powers of African football, Nigeria and Cameroon, will tackle each other in the second match of the day at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan. Nigeria came second in Group A to draw Cameroon in this round.
Other round of 16 matches, include Equatorial Guinea playing Guinea at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium while Egypt faces D.R Congo at the Laurent Pokou Stadium, on Sunday, January 28.
On Monday, January 29, Cape Verde will take on Mauritania at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, while Mali will tackle Burkina Faso at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Kohorgo same day.
Defending champions Senegal and hosts Côte d’lvoire will be played at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium on January, 30 with Morocco and South Africa playing at the Laurent Pokou Stadium same day.
