A group, Concerned Edo PDP Patriots, has condemned the purported planned waiver being put together by the PDP leadership in Edo state for Mr Asue Ighodalo an associate of Gov Godwin Obaseki.

In a recent petition addressed to the Plateau State Governor who is chairman of the Edo State Guber screening committee they said,

” It has come to our notice that the planned waiver contravenes the Constitution of our party as amended in section 9, paragraph 3, of page 68 which unequivocally states that there shall be a minimum of two year membership span for a member to be eligible to stand for election into any public office.” It is evident that the anointed candidate of the Governor, Asue Ighodalo does not meet this requirement as stipulated in the party’s constitution.”

They also added, “We believe that adhering to the Constitution is paramount to the upholding the spirit of fairness and equity within our political process.”

The petition was signed by Musa Aliyu, Suliaman Braimoh, Victor Ikponwosa, Osadolor Ogie and Ebosele Odion.

Screening for the Edo state PDP Guber elections starts today in Abuja. All the aspirants are in town and various meetings and alignments have been ongoing ahead of the screening.

So far according to a source, Gov Godwin Obaseki and his friend and ally who he has anointed are not meeting with any of the aspirants.
