NOLLYWOOD MAKEUP ARTIST, ABIGAIL FREDERICK RE-BURIED IN AKWA IBOM

The remains of late Nollywood make-up artist, Ms Abigail Frederick, earlier buried by the banks of the River Niger, were, yesterday, laid to rest at the family compound in Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area.

Abigail Fedrick died alongside popular actor, Junior Pope, and three others in a boat mishap last week.

The latest burial followed Governor Umo Eno’s earlier demanded that Abigail’s corpse be brought home for proper and decent burial.

Following the governor’s directive, her body was exhumed on Sunday, April 14.

A candle-light procession was also said to have been held in her honour.

The 24-year-old graduate of Theatre Arts, University of Uyo, UNIUYO, hailed from Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

A statement issued on Monday by the governor’s media team said: “Following the condolence visit to the family of the late Nollywood make-up artist, Abigail Frederick, by Governor Eno, weekend, where he promised to help facilitate the return of the remains of the late make-up artist, her body had been successfully brought back home for a proper burial today, by the family.

“Governor Eno had during the visit to the family in Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area, offered automatic employment to the elder sister of the late Theatre Arts graduate.

“He had also promised assistance to her two undergraduate sisters, and approved the remodeling of her family house in Eket.”

The body was interred after a funeral service conducted by the Church of Christ, Ikot Udoma, attended by various dignitaries, including the Eket Transition Committee Chairman, Akaniyene Tommey; Commissioner for Tourism, Charles Udoh; SA on Entertainment, Moses Eskor; Godfada Uko, members of the Eket Transition Committee, Nollywood actress, Eve Esin, the Nollywood community, friends, and sympathisers.”
